Elwood Local (elwoodlocal.com) is a local business directory and news site for Elwood, Indiana. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what you send us, we use it to run the site, and we never sell your personal information.
We only collect information you choose to give us through the forms on this site:
Like almost every website, our server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. Form submissions are rate-limited using your IP address.
Business details shown in the directory (name, category, phone, address, hours, website) are public business information, gathered from public sources or supplied by the business, and are shown so people can find the business.
We send email (newsletter, confirmations, media kits and replies) through Resend, an email delivery provider. Resend processes your email address and the message content only to deliver our email. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time.
Featured listing upgrades are billed through Stripe. When you pay, you enter your card details on Stripe's secure checkout page, not on Elwood Local. Stripe handles and stores your card data; we never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us what we need to manage your subscription, such as your name, email, business name, the plan and payment status. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the information you give Stripe.
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site, and we do not use cookies to track you. The weather shown beside the logo is loaded by your browser from Open-Meteo, a free weather service, which receives your browser's standard request information (such as your IP address) when it loads. Links to Google Maps, business websites and news sources take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site (our hosting provider, Resend for email and Stripe for payments), only as needed for them to do that work, or when the law requires it.
We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and form submissions for as long as we need them to handle your request and keep reasonable business records. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link in any issue. You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information you have given us by emailing info@elwoodlocal.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Elwood Local is meant for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
